The head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare, Mikhail Murashko, participated in the National congress “Immunobiological Shield of Russia”.The head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare, Mikhail Murashko, spoke at a plenary meeting of the National congress “Immunobiological Shield of Russia” which took place on November 16, 2016, in Moscow.

Among those attending the event were the Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, Veronika Skvortsova, the deputy Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, Sergei Kraevoy, the deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Sergei Tsyb, the head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, Vladimir Uyba, and representatives of the medical and scientific community, patient and public organizations, major pharmaceutical producers, and media.

The head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare emphasized in his speech that three agencies closely cooperate in building an “immunobiological shield of the Russian Federation”: Healthcare Ministry of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, and the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare.
The responsibilities of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare include tracking the indicators of target immunization coverage, rational usage of medical immunobiological products, and monitoring vaccine quality.
‘The potential of the Russian Federation is growing with every passing year: technological capabilities of national developers and manufacturers do not raise any doubts,’ Mikhail Murashko stated. ‘It is confirmed by the fact that Russian products, developed both for the national vaccination schedule and as a means of self-limiting infection prevention, have a large export potential and raise interest among our foreign colleagues. Around two thousand vaccine batches are produced in Russia annually and the rigorous tests conducted have not indicated any serious concerns regarding their quality.
Preventive vaccination is an important element of health protection and disease prevention. The development of this particular segment within the Russian healthcare system was the factor which accounted for a 30-year increase in the average life expectancy in the twentieth century. This is a very serious indicator indeed; that is why I encourage people to put off all their imaginary fears and start to treat their own health and the health of the younger generation in a responsible manner.’
During the congress, the experts discussed the national policy in the sphere of immunological prevention; the experience of international cooperation in the immunobiological industry; the current state and perspectives of modernization of the National Schedule of Preventive Vaccination; and interaction of healthcare services, media, and society for creating a positive attitude to vaccination among the population and answered questions of the professional community and media.
